The Ohio State University
Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital
Columbus, Ohio

This is an independent 205,000 SF, 5-story extension of the main hospital complex. The dedicated heart hospital houses 6 operating rooms and 6 cath labs. The first phase includes 90 universal patient rooms and provisions to increase that number with the addition of two more partial floors.

Great care was taken to match the existing floor levels in the adjacent main hospital building in anticipation of the next phase which will include a planned expansion of diagnostics and surgery. The ground level of this building also houses the relocated central sterile supply department of the complex, which also serves as one of the main terminals of the automated guided vehicle (AGV) materials management system that was installed to serve the entire OSU Medical Center.

The project also includes a 1,000-car parking garage, connected to the Heart Hospital with a pedestrian bridge.
