Toledo-Lucas
Public Library
Toledo, Ohio
This was a 91,000 SF addition and renovation/restoration
of the main library built in 1939. The addition includes reference
areas, study and conference rooms, training/education center,
mezzanine, multi-media presentation rooms, and meeting rooms
with teleconferencing capability and extensive interactive
audio and video systems. The Wintergarden, a multi-functional
display and gathering area, serves as the entrance to the
addition from the existing building. The original 179,000
SF library was renovated to meet current and future functional
needs. The mechanical and electrical systems required replacement
and major modifications while maintaining many of the historical
elements in the building.
