Conference Palace
Tripoli, Libya

As the focal point of the Tripoli Greens Conference Complex, the Conference Palace contains a 2,000 seat conference hall complete with audio/video systems, TV/Radio broadcast facility, a ceremonial space, a press conference center, meeting rooms, catering facilities, archive library, and other related areas for the participants in the General People’s Congress.

Sustainable energy saving concepts being utilized are a natural “Displacement Ventilation” system and free cooling in the Conference Hall. With this system, only the lower third of the hall volume (the occupied volume), will have traditional mechanical heating and cooling. Air will be supplied beneath each of the 2000 seats and will be returned just above the occupied area. Warm air will collect at the upper portion of the structure, well above the occupied level of the hall, creating thermal buoyancy and stratification within the space and will be vented. This hot air will rise in the space driven by the natural stack effect and be relieved from the top of the space.
