The Ohio State University
Recreation and Physical Activity Center
Columbus, Ohio

This 600,000 sports and recreation facility is the University’s largest of its time and was designed and built in two permitted phases to allow uninterrupted operations of certain portions of intramural activities. Its three principal elements are a student recreational sport facility, the academic component of Physical Activity and Education Services and the competitive swimming and diving pools.

The major spaces include a wellness area, fitness area, weight room, basketball, volleyball, badminton, indoor soccer, floor hockey, squash courts, climbing wall, jogging track and golf driving stations. The new aquatic center features an Olympic competition pool, a diving pool, a recreation/lap/class pool, and a leisure pool. Korda won a 2008 American Council of Engineering Companies Outstanding Achievement Award for this project.
